Access your computer’s music library on your mobile phone or tablet by using one of the methods below. Then, you can listen on any device using the Music app.

Transfer music to your online library (recommended)

Upload music from your computer to your Google Play Music library to make it available on any device where you use the Google Play Music app. Get it now on Android or iOS/Apple.

You can transfer music from your computer to your Google Play Music library in the following ways:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Go to the Google Play Music web player.
  3. Select the Menu icon  > Upload music.
  4. Drag and drop files or choose files to upload with Select from this computer.
  5. Near the bottom of your screen, track your upload progress.

Tip: If you use iTunes, you can drag and drop music from your iTunes library into the upload area.

Load music onto your device using a USB cable

If you can’t transfer your library online, you can load music files from your computer to your mobile device using a USB cable.

On a Mac

  • Download and install Android File Transfer on your computer
  • If your screen is locked, unlock your screen.
  • Connect your computer to your device using a USB cable.
  • Locate music files on your computer and drag them into your device’s Music folder in Android File Transfer.

On Windows

  1. If your screen is locked, unlock your screen.
  2. Connect your computer to your device using a USB cable.
  3. Locate music files on your computer and drag them into your device’s Music folder.

Note: If your library is not already downloaded to your computer, you’ll need to download your music files before transferring music onto your phone.
